Connecting the Showring with Science
Ralco Nutrition, Inc. understands the essential needs and potential challenges of the showpig producer, feeder, and exhibitor. Our show feeds are targeted to maximize growth and efficiency by meeting the requirements of high-lean pigs with superior genetics. In addition, through nutrition, we address issues unique to showpigs such as show day appearance and stress associated with various factors such as immune challenges, travel stress, and heat stress. These show diets incorporate nutrition-based technologies for which Ralco Nutrition is best known. For instance, these diets are “cooler” diets due to lower metabolic heat load associated with digestion which results in pigs better maintaining feed intake during hot environmental temperatures and more efficient utilization of feed for body weight gain. Additionally, besides the energy from supplemental fat, the diet also contains a proprietary caloric blend that optimizes carbohydrate energy. Specialty ingredients are incorporated that target the optimization of immune function and gastrointestinal health as well as minimizing the effects of stress…factors critical for show pig performance and appearance.
